ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Conceived from a rapid growth in my spirituality, Apocalyptic Rebirth is the recognition of the increasing segregation between humanity and spirituality. In today's era of materialistic values and self-gratification, my artwork visually represents the destruction of an individual's soul through the brutality and destruction experienced by our world.

The exploration of maternal symbols; the breast and the foetus, illustrates the basis of all human beginnings. Through a metaphorical birthing from the land, humanity is withered by fumes of hatred, war, and bloodshed. We are consequently laid dormant, lifeless, and empty like the monolith rock formations of the Stonehenge, searching for something from this world that can never fulfil us. As C.S. Lewis said:

"If I discover within myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world."
